It hit me like whoa…

Whoops

I went to the beach (again :)). It was windy and the surf was rough. The average wave surged up the beach about 20 ft. One of them got my blanket that I was laying on. I was quick enough to move out of the way, my blanket was not. I had a good laugh at that. Two minutes later a wave surged up to the dune about 5 ft away.

The beach never ceases to amaze me. The weather today was PERFECT for the beach. It was like 79 and sparsely cloudy outside. I love the beach.

Full moon

We are who we are. Even more so, we are the result of our decisions. Furthermore, we are the result of those around us. I can’t help but think of how my life is shaped due to my friends. This kind of goes back to the “Circle of Life” page I did back in February. Essentially, pick any object and it has some connection to other parts of your life.

I miss my friends… I miss you.

Mmmm bop

I really like my dual monitor display at work. My laptop just doesn’t measure up.

Oh yea, I read this article today about “NASA’s experimental sailplane soars like a bird“. Is me, or is that really neat?! A 14-foot model plane flew to a max altitude of 2,770 feet… amazing.

And ZeroG is cool too, if you have $4500 to spend on a 1 1/2 hour modified-plane flight.

I had today off, so I went to the beach really early this morning to see the sunrise. It wasn’t the best of conditions, there was a fog covering most of the area. Eventually the sun did peek through the haze and the clouds not too much later than a clear sky. It was very refreshing to be out on the beach early. There was only one person there (but they were on another part of the beach).

Besides noticing the way the beach has changed since Saturday, there was something new. A wooden cross wrapped with pink flowers embedded in the upper part of the dune. There was also a memorial thingy on a walkway that crosses the dune. The surf claimed a life.

The beach changed yet again. I guess this was due to tropical storm Tammy. It was hightide and the waves were impressive, even threatening. The surge from a crashing wave, which curled right on the beach, came up several feet. Some of the waves were taller than me. Pretty much the only people in the water were surfers… the there were some good waves farther out.

I went in and I had a blast! I got pounded by one wave, but otherwise it was fun being nearly consumed by the surf. I wish the waves were like this all the time, it would be great exercise and tons of fun.

And yet even this memory will fade away…

Theme song for October..

Stop right there. That’s exactly where I lost it.
See that line. Well I never should have crossed it.
Stop right there. Well I never should have said
that it’s the very moment that
I wish that I could take back.

I’m sorry for the person I became.
I’m sorry that it took so long for me to change.
I’m ready to be sure I never become that way again
’cause who I am hates who I’ve been.
Who I am hates who I’ve been.

It looks like I’ll be home for Christmas after all. I have back to back Fridays off due to Christmas and New Years Eve, so I’m taking leave on the 4 work days in between those Fridays. Of course, the family may not even be there. So I could be at home by myself for a week.

Nevertheless, I will use opportunity to drag some of my stuff back so the trip will be of good use. I’ve acquired some stuff and I’m going to need two trips anyhow without that stuff. Futon is just a little bit too big. I know, I’ll throw it on the roof!

Its amazing how much the beach changes in one week. Last weekend there was a section of beach that had like 5 feet of sand between the dune and water… at low tide. Wasn’t that way this weekend, I guess high tide eroded the dune some more.

Human life is neatly demonstrated by rain falling into a puddle. Some people are like the rain that evaporates before hitting the puddle, they have no effect on the puddle. Some people are like the mist or light rain, the make small ripples but are not significant. Some people are like regular rain drops, conforming; when they hit the puddle they make a ripple effect that spreads out to the rest of the puddle. Some people turn into hail, hard and imperfect; and they make the same ripple effect when they hit the puddle. And some people turn into the beautiful snowflakes that we were meant to be, they touch the world like no other.
