Rain rain go away…

Published by Matt under Daily Musings

Even the rain can’t keep this day down… I saw a bumper sticker that said “I-4 SUCKS”. Very true. :)

Tornado Warnings are interesting too.

An interesting read…

Published by Matt under General

I thought this was interesting, so I pass the URL on to you… Its called The Magic Factor by Timothy Totten.

You see to a grown-up, everything is explainable, everything is just normal and the there is no need for magic. So who has magic? Well children have magic. When you are a child the entire world is magical. Everything is magical, and mystical. A tree is not just a tree, it’s more than just physical substance with scientific explanations, it’s a fascinating object. Stars are not just huge burning balls of gas, they are mystical shining lights from which lots of magic emanates. Life is not just something that you sit back and let come to you, it’s an adventure, you have to reach out and experience as much as possible.

Week in review for computer news

Published by Matt under News

Google now offers a movie showtime search. Get it while its hot. On a side note, not news, they have a Scholar search which apparently only searches .gov and .edu domains. Might be useful some day.

Microsoft plans to sale anti-virus software some time in the future. I think they should just put that money into fixing Windows, and then we wouldn’t need anti-virus software.

Microsoft plans to release IE7 sometime this summer instead of with their next operating system due to raised concerns about security. I think this looks like a step in the right direction.

Apple cuts iPod prices

IBM pledges $100 million to Linux. What that means for you is more free stuff. IBM also broke a deal with Zend to bring a new development environment to PHP web developers. Not applicable to you, but it is to me.

Microsoft plans to change its Activation Policy; PC makers will be required to activate copies that are installed by the PC maker. Those licenses cannot be activated by the web activation any more.

Even the most beautiful shell you can pick up off the beach has its imperfections.

The last week or so

Published by Matt under General, Work

Umm, basically the last week or so has been work. Saturday I didn’t do anything because it wasn’t warm enough to go to the beach. But Sunday it was like 73, so I went to the Playalinda Beach in the Canaveral National Seashore, its north of KSC in the Merrit Island Wildlife Refuge. Really nice beach, the low tide beach is a good distance… and you can walk out quite a distance in the water and its not deep. Found lots of really nice shells. Nothing you’d expect to find on a public beach.
Today, tomorrow, and Thursday I’m touring various facilities at KSC so I’m not actually sitting at my desk doing work. Some of it is boring, but its a nice break from desk work. Got to meet several other coops and new hires, so that’s cool too.

Wish you were here…

Published by Matt under General

I went to the beach today… high was 73. It was cloudy when I got there, but the clouds rolled away and it was sunny for a good while. And then the sun started to go down and with the wind it started getting chilly. So I went for a walk… I like long walks on the beach. Don’t think I got any more tan, but eventually I’ll get there.

Its so peaceful on the beach… the clouds rolling over head, the roar of the waves, the seagulls making occasional noises. It felt nice just being there. Now if I had a back massage on the beach, I think I’d be in heaven. Probably be dead before that happens any how…

a project

Published by Matt under Site

A little project (link removed) I’ve been working on… works best at resolutions higher than 800×600. Code wise, I was impressed at how little code it took. Display wise, its lacking.
